Artist's description:

These are the next two canvases of John and Mary. Their breakfast in the kitchen with John reading the Guardian and Mary pregnant in her housecoat. Larry my ex posed for drawings sitting at the table and my friend Cait who was pregnant posed for Mary. I used the rush mat under the table to create an island effect so that they seem to be a unit with the furniture almost floating on the bluish floor. I liked the idea of the trimmed hedge continuing into the house space from outside.Different friends posed in their car with their children and for Mary holding a child. I should emphasise that the family scenes have little resemblance to my own life. I was always a bit anti marriage and married Larry to save him from being extradited to USA as a draft evader when he was drafted for the Vietnam War. Although the Tower Blocks are set on rolling green hills I based them on those in Adelaide Road South Hampstead . I included Concorde as a 70's icon though I doubt it flew over Hampstead but I saw it often on visits to Kew gardens.
