It Runs In the Family is a continuation of my minimalist silhouette work themed around our wildlife animals. This work examines the vigor of nature through bold colors and expressive drips which is balanced with the stark, flat gray of the background panel. Doing so individualizes the animal as a martyr for their species and their survival in the modern world.
Using a bandsaw, I hand-cut the silhouette from FSC certified wood. It is then mounted to a small block to allow a floating affect off of the main panel. Signed and wired for hanging.
