Paper collage inspired by an original photograph taken by Melanie Ezra. Each collage is a physical reconstruction using tweezers and scalpel and is meticulously recreated in painstaking detail over the course of a week. Some of the tiny pieces used to recreate the photograph are no more than 0.1in (3mm) in size
This collage was based on a pinhole photograph of a vase of flowers. The camera was a digital camera built by the artist herself in order to create the abstract nature of this image. This is the second in a series of three based on flowers and created in this way.
The deconstructed subject matter becomes almost irrelevant since it is the effect of the reconstruction that the viewer is inevitably drawn to. These remarkable narratives speak volumes as to the potential of the photograph.
