"Inverse Fire in Oil"
Oil on paper
By KSEE January, 2017
Unframed, Textured, and Layered Abstract Oil Painting.
Signed, dated, and titled on front of the painting.
This oil on paper series I've been working on caught the attention of art critic Jerry Saltz on my Twitter page and I got some likes, a note of praise, encouragement and constructive criticism from him on them.
The paints used in this painting were oil colors by Winsor & Newton. Tools used to create the piece were brushes, a sponge and roller on a vintage 19"x25" sheet of heavy duty art paper.
I believe in the communicative power of art. I like to explore the relationship that exists between image, colors, and texture within each piece created. I’ve always been a storyteller, using either words or images. I've worked in the field of comics books for many years and for the last 15 years in Hollywood. A tale is told in each of my works. Art has many effects. The reaction to any artwork is singular and unique for each human, as it is in the creation of the art. Entertaining, engaging, or enraging, the experience and effect define each human/art connection if one is to exist. Abstractions in the mind filter my perceptions. Art and human experience exist as one, together, inseparable. I create my art but it is each individual experience that defines it. Then we are together, in art and life.
