Two of my favourite paintings, Titian's Venus of Urbino and Velasquez' Rokeby Venus. And in between, Leda and the swan. Leda, remember, after being seduced by Zeus posing as a swan, gave birth to Helen, the most beautiful (mortal) woman in the world, who was the prize in the competition judged by Paris when he chose Aphrodite, aka Venus, as the most beautiful (immortal) woman. Inconveniently, she was already married, so he had to abduct her to his home town of Troy, hence ten years of war, the Iliad, the Odyssey, etc. Great stories. This painting is for sale with a substantial pewter-coloured frame.
