This is an outtake from one of my assignments for Vogue India.
This story was a very organic one. Contrary to previous occasions where the magazine would have a departure point for me to work from, this time they asked me if I had a story in mind that I'd like to work on with them. I've always had an adventurous and a daydreamer's spirit and photographer Tim Walker's work has inspired me in that sense. I loved his story 'Lily Takes a Trip' which he shot in India. I had always wanted to photograph something with a similar heart where a displaced sailor along with her boat goes in search of a resting place - a home, while encountering wonders along the way. I made a few sketches and sent them to Vogue. They loved the idea and we shot the story in the beautiful Western Ghats of India.
