The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a large wild goose with a black head and neck, white patches on the face, and a brown body. Native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, it also occasionally migrates to northern Europe. Sometimes erroneously referred to as "Canadian Goose", they are very adaptable to areas of urban development. This photograph was transformed into a painting in an ephemeral place at the edge of a lake, where the goose was quietly foraging in marshy grass until he caught sight of the intruder.
