Orchids inside a Victorian Glass Dome.
This painting was inspired by the Victorian nurseryman Frederick Sander known as the Orchid King.
One of his collectors went to New Guinea, he found tribesmen who laid their dead in the graveyards and decorated them with the finest orchids they could find.
The plants continued to grow, their roots firmly attached to the bones. This is how they arrived at the showrooms in London, attached to human skulls..........
