Artist's description:

Plein air oil painting produced in one sitting of a disused 'Sangar' fortified post used in training troops for 'Operation Herrick' in Afghanistan. There are dozens of these scattered across Salisbury Plain, and as operations wound down there, these 'Afghan' outposts have laid dorment, and are gradually being taken back over by nature. A future point of historical importance akin to the recently discovered WW1 trench training system found at nearby Larkhill.
