Artist's description:

Artwork part of the serie "Obras Mexicanas", exhibited at Centro Pluricultural in Cd. Nezahualcòyotl, Mexico in my first solo exhibition outside Italy. The serie is inspired by Lucha Libre, the Mexican wrestling, and the exhibition has been inhaugurated by Esther Moreno and Espartako Guerrero Maximo, two champions of this sport.

"Hermanitas" is a very peculiar artwork. The two sisters pose as in vintage family photos, in an bright yellow interior filled with luscious plants. A portrait of Emiliano Zapata, one of the protagonists of Mexican Revolution, is hanged on the wall. The little lady seated on the chair is reading one of the most iconic magazines of Mexico, "Lucha Libre", particularly beautiful for its colourfully kitsch covers.

The painting has painted edges and can be hanged as is.

Materials used:

acrylic, stretched canvas
