With my obsession with the urban scenery that I had experienced over the last few trips I took, my art seems to be turning more and more experimental. I find myself using new techniques, different paint, fresh textures. Although there is a common theme for this summer's series, each piece has its own unique features.
This piece, like "luminosity" is made on repurposed canvas to create an authentic urban sense. This is the second piece of a three part repurposed canvas mini series. The image in the background is that of an Italian city with water ways. The main image is hinting towards the beauty of these streets and the history behind them.
There are multiple mediums used on this piece. Primarily oil and acrylic. If one is to look closely, they will see structural components such as triangles and squares and hexagons , that only appear with the right lighting. This effect was something very new that I had been wanting to experiment with for quiet some time. The flower is made from a mixture of iredecent acrylics. This was made using a heavy spatula based style that give the piece a very unique characteristic that none of my paintings have ever had. These techniques along with a recently newly discovered decaying process make this work one of my most successful experiments to date. The artwork shimmers gold, copper and silver in different shades of light. This includes the blue that also comes alive during different times of the day.
