Painting seascapes from reality is impossible and it would be dangerous to try if you want to be this close. This imaginary seascape is built up from experience. Having spent most of my life living close to the sea I have a lot of that. This rough sea finding and winding its way through the rocks is very typical of the beautiful sights seen when there is a high sea running. Best not be too close though.
