Artist's description:

This depiction of Hemerdon Mine, located on the edge of Dartmoor National park, is sadly no longer in existence as it has now been reopened and developed into one of the biggest tungsten mines in Europe, on the one hand good for the local economy, but the development has erased one of my long term hiking routes and one of my reliable creative sources.

As a romantic, the area held a poeticism, that appealed to my soul on many levels and was the cataylist for much of my work over a period of twenty five years or more.

This painting was originally started in 2013 and was never fully brought to a conclusion. The ‘Recollected Reflections’ body of work and this painting have a common approach, although this painting is descriptive, they are both memories of the essence, of place and emotion.
