Artist's description:

Cockatoo on a waratah/protea tree.
I love cockatoos for they are funny, cheeky and as smart as us - people. It's believed that cockatoos in the wild can live up to 40 years. But who knew that they could live to 100? No wonder they are that smart! Fred, a sulphur-crested cockatoo, celebrated his 100th birthday in October, 2014 at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary outside Hobart with a letter from The Queen!
Telopea speciosissima, commonly known as the New South Wales waratah or simply waratah, is a large shrub. It is endemic to New South Wales in Australia and is the floral emblem of that state.
