Artist's description:
The etching ‘Pebble beach and Cliffs’ is part of series of images inspired by living by the sea on the East Sussex coast.
The image shows the sea in the foreground, with the beach and cliffs further back. On the right side the cliffs break up and become pebbles and eventually part of the beach.
The erosion of the cliffs around Burling Gap have interested me for some time now. The old coast guard station here is now under serious threat of falling into the sea. On the left the etchings shows the old ladder used centuries ago by the coast guard to climb down from the cliff tops to the beach. Many ships and boats got into difficulties out at sea but to close to shore, before the light houses were in operation.
Each print is an original, hand printed by me in my studio in Brighton on acid free fine art printing paper. The image size is about 15.5cm x 30.5 with a paper margin of about 5cm all around.
