When the heather is in full blossom, the New Forest is transformed. In the right light and location, it looks like a sea of lilac.
When this image was made, Mother Nature was demanding compromise. There was distant mist which was disappearing as the red colour in the dawn sky intensified. This is the middle image of 3 and where I feel the balance is optimum.
The New Forest is predominantly flat and here the view is down a gentle slope looking East towards a dramatic sky. The sky would become flat and grey within 20 minutes and hadn't been very promising when I left home for the shoot.
