Artist's description:

During a residency at a pottery studio, I was introduced to many techniques and different types of clay. One such type is stoneware which turns black if fired in a kiln above 1200 degrees. This immediately reminded me of the colour of charcoal, and just wanted to try it out! I also decided that I wanted to combine paper with ceramics to see if these two mediums worked together, and I am really pleased with the results. I see these pieces as heads – the wire represents the intricacies of our thoughts and emotions.

Materials used:

clay, nichrome wire, paper clips

Headscape 7 (monochrome) (2016)
