Original artwork description:

This piece is a encaustic painting (bees wax, damar, pigment) on nine 12" wood panels, that piece together to make a 36" square painting. The paint surface is rich and highly textured in black, with exposed raw wood in the unpainted areas.

This piece will ship mounted and ready to hang in a simple pine exhibition frame.

Encaustic paint is made from a combination of beeswax, pigment, and damar, and is worked by heating and melting the materials. Encaustic paintings are very durable (examples remain from ancient Egypt) but they are susceptible to high temperatures, so they should not be hung in a place which may get excessively hot, such as near a radiator or in direct sunlight.

Interior photo may not reflect the actual size of work. Please check measurements.

Please note that some international customers may have additional import duties to pay the postal service. Please check with your local post to determine what those fees may be.

Materials used:

Nine wood panels, beeswax, graphite, damar
