Artist's description:

These lovely little bell-shaped flowers with their delicate star-shaped heads grace our hedgerows in early June. On a warm summer afternoon, I picked some to take home and do this small wildflower study. By spattering paint around the main flower composition, I have emphasized their fragility and lightness as well as the informal manner in which they grow. The freshness of the soft lilac-colour is contrasted against the whiteness of the paper by leaving the background unpainted and concentrating on the flower heads themselves.

“Harebells” was painted on 600g Hahnemühle, 100% cotton rag, mould-made paper using Windsor and Newton watercolour paints. It’s one of a series of paintings of wildflowers and it comes mounted and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

Materials used:

600g Hahnemühle, 100% cotton rag, mould-made paper, Windsor and Newton watercolour paints
