Using Indian ink and watercolour, I wanted to capture the hare hunkered down. You know that they live above ground and not in burrows, so they avoid detection by keeping low to the ground and being ever watchful with those wonderful eyes and sharp ears.
The canvas is prepared with several coats of semi-absorbent ground. I use a deep edge canvas, so there is no need for framing and it is ready to hang. After it is finished it is sealed with multiple coats of matte varnish (archival, UV resistant), to protect the delicate watercolour and this means no glass is needed for protection. As with all watercolours please try not to hang it in direct sunlight, humid conditions or where there is strong heat.
