Each carving is done from a single piece of wood ranging in size from 4” to 40” utilizing either the branches or trunks of the Guayacan Tree
Our carvers only produce 12 of these per year. We only have 5 left until April next year
Each piece is hand carved by 1 of only 3 carvers in Cuba that can do this work with the type of wood used due to its density. No lacquer is used on the wood and each piece is traditionally hand polished.

Guayacan or "Lignum vitae" is Latin for "wood of life", and derives its name from its medicinal uses; lignum vitae resin has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions from coughs to arthritis, and chips of the wood can also be used to brew a tea. In the world of wood, Lignum Vitae is the stuff of legends.
Among commercially available hardwoods, it is widely regarded as the heaviest and hardest wood in the world.
It’s unique olive green color, delicate feathered grain pattern, smell, and other-worldly rot resistance only serves to add to its aura.
It has a density of 1.23 g/cm cubed causing it to easily sink in water.
