after 2 years of complex construction, the Observatory at Griffith Park was finally unveiled in May 14, 1935. Sitting on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood, the structure still inspires and awes astronomers and artists alike. Thick impasto and crude strokes focused exclusively on the reflections of afternoon light give this piece a haunting and harmonious composition.
