Mixed Media Original: Good Bones II
I'm so drawn to the history and architecture of old factories and mills, which there are no shortage of in New England. Connecticut is home to hundreds of old mills from the 1800s and 1900s and this building is part of a row of abandoned mills in Hartford CT. Of all the buildings, I kept coming back to this one, for its architectural details and good bones, despite the broken windows and abandoned appearance.
This mixed media painting is layered with my photography of the building, vintage documents, acrylic paints and oil pastels to create a unique, vintage inspired piece of industrial art. This is the one-of-a kind original, not a reproduction.

Inspired by my passion for history, old things and landscapes, my photography marries beautifully with mixed media techniques including acrylic paints, inks and collage. Each piece tells a unique story through the quiet scenes captured, the vintage ephemera incorporated and the touches of paint that when combined creates a new piece that is greater than the sum of its parts.
My work is vintage inspired, architecturally inspired and nature inspired. I create art that speaks to wide open spaces, quiet places and simpler times.
