More Postcards from the City. This painting was inspired when I was at a class making site specific work inside an old building, a temporary home while the art school was re-furbished. Wandering around this building on a balmy September evening I found this old industrial style staircase, which was partially lit from within. I liked the potential drama of the slightly open doorway, the lit stair treads and the dramatic shadow of the stair rail.
