Artist's description:

Oil on Daler Fine Grain Board

6" x 8"

This painting shows the view looking towards the fells and hills around Butteremere, which in Old English means 'the lake by the dairy pastures'. I walked around the lake with my wife and 3 year old son which was around 5 miles. I like how the name of the subject reinforces the buttery quality of the oil paint that has been applied to give a sense of direction and form to the hills.

This work is part of a group of smaller 6 x 8 paintings that I shall be making, that will evoke the drama and strong colour found from my visit to the Lake District in 2016.

Materials used:

Oil paint

Goat Crag, Buttermere, 2016 (2016)
