This very special piece is believed to be African exotic driftwood (Padauk) that travelled all the way to the Gaspe Coast. This is where it was collected by the artist after many hours of beachcombing. In fact, the piece revealed its striking beauty just after a lengthy sanding process. The giraffe has been entirely sculpted by nature. It seems to exhibit a funny grin. What is most amazing is that the eye has been drawn by nature and appears at the right place through the wood natural lines. The blacksmithed (by Forge Gagnon in Vancouver) metal pieces also come from the beach.
