No two prints can be exactly the same and it is this element of surprise that I enjoy and that gives rise to the title that refers to the mysteries of print making, the natural world and most mysterious of all - love. I found intriguing the idea that two circles and a square can make a heart just as two people together can bring about love. There are layers of meaning to this piece just as there are layers of colour and shape. I leave some of the meaning to you.
For this aquatint printed with oil based ink on Somerset paper I passed the metal acid etched plate through the press several times after each inking of the circle and square that had to be printed one after the other to create semi transparent layers.
Each print is created using the same metal plate and circles and square, but printed with different colour combinations and thicknesses of ink. Each print is therefore absolutely unique and an edition varie of 30. This particular version is numbered 7/30.
The photograph of the artwork is as accurate a representation as is possible. Each computer screen represents images slightly differently so colours may vary slightly. The red of this print is a pink or burgundy red. The heart shape appears a bit whiter in the photographs and is very transluscent in reality.
