Original artwork description:

Being stuck with books for 12 hours a day has driven me close to insanity a few times. It has also led to me paint with more than just my wrist. This painting was one of my gestural attempts as well as more oddly developed ideas. With Fall around the corner I can only imagine how chunky the squirrels will get. I always seem to see them stuffing their faces from the corner of my eye, even though it is still 70 degrees in New York. I assume they sense the cold winter coming. Or maybe they just like to purge and dine viscously every day. This thought led me to name the painting "gentry". It reminds me of how the higher class always is dinning. They do not eat to live, most of them live to eat. From the finest cheeses to the most expensive steaks, they get it all. When you try to capture them for a question or help, they hastily run away from you and hide. but when its time to eat, it is easy to find them in their natural environment. It is comical how modern day society can be compared to the animal kingdom and its different species. Maybe this, after all, tells us something about our society or how we act.

Materials used:

Grumbacher Oil Paint, Canvas
