This is a framed version of a popular design from earlier this year.
Using antique music manuscript as my paper ground I have created a little collection of watercolour penguin artworks. The music dates from the 1800s and is wonderfully aged with soft yellowy buff tones (the scan of the artwork makes it look a little lighter than in reality, the photo showing the mounted artwork is better for colour...)
I paint quite a few penguins on music manuscript, even though they aren't songbirds I think they work well against the patterning of the notes. These two cheeky little ones are having fun playing on the score...
Mounted in a soft white mount and framed in a simple black wooden frame the painting is ready to gift and hang.
