From the series ‘‘Les âmes fugitives du canal de Provence’’
In the heart of the Alpilles lies the Canal de Provence, which, through its fresh and clear waters, breathes a real life force into what would otherwise be a Provencal desert.
At the bend of one of its many waterfalls, in the shade of a hundred-year-old almond tree, I once installed my camera and took a few pictures.
Divine surprise, on some of them they appeared strange, humanoid forms, sometimes disturbing, sometimes magical.
From these tumultuous waters, generating life in this arid land, photography knew how to reveal these mysterious apparitions, souls haunting the waters, which the eye alone could not perceive.
The experience repeated many times (several thousand photographs) delivered these fleeting souls, born of the encounter of living waters, light and the photographic medium.
