Artwork description:

Inspired by the sounds of walking through pine forests this collagraph I created from collecting many fallen pine needles. Patiently arranged on large collagraph sheets the pine needles are set in a circular form and then put through a large printing press.
The needles were inked up with silver metallic ink onto a smooth off white Somerset high quality paper and put through the press.
What transpired was a very delicate ethereal image of all the pine needles together. I made this work as a series of three works which was exhibited in Leeds earlier in 2017. At the time I was also recording sounds in the forests and listening to the sounds falling needles make.
There is only one print of this made as the pine needles were so delicate and wouldn't have survived the press a second time.
They have a very 'quiet' feel about them so if you are looking for a contemplative, still sanctuary for your home you may well have found it here..

Materials used:

Ink, Paper
