I love to use a lot of texture in my art when painting in acrylic and I also love to upcycle - I got to do both with this painting of an elephant. The canvas had modelling paste applied to it which lent itself perfectly to the texture of the hide of the elephant. I then used a combination of impasto and pointillism to create the tone and markings on the hide.
This piece is on a box canvas, the sides of which have been painted black so it is ready to hang as is and doesn't need to be framed.
