Original artwork description:

This "all over" abstract is dominated by soft bluish-green shades, pink, white, deep turquoise and some areas of light blue. It looks like a storm-tossed sea as seen from an aerial perspective, since the lighter shades appear to be blown across the basic light green. In fact, thermal and wind energy have gone into making this small encaustic, since I painted hot, and the cooling process as well as the heat that comes from fusing each layer, from the hot paint and from the blow gun and propane torch, have shaped the dispersion of pigment. It is a highly complex, intricate and pleasing whole, easy to see in an entry way, on a half wall or short wall, or clustered with other works. It is painted on a 2-inch deep cradled hardboard panel, the sides of which are painted pale-blue green, and does not require framing: in fact, looks best unframed. It is signed, dated and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Materials used:

encaustic paint, powdered pigment, oil stick on cradled panel
