This is an impression of Ghoomar dance of Rajasthan, India. This dance is performed solely by women on auspicious occasions, late evenings. The faces of ladies are covered by a veil. As the tempo increases, the dancers swirl fleetly, swaying their colorful 'Ghagras' (the costumes). I am fascinated by this nice blend of colors, movements and rhythm, which I have tried to capture in this painting. The dull earthen colors used in background are typical of soil of Rajasthan that is used to coat the walls in rural parts. The dull background tone with limited light is also to give the effect of darkness of late evening when the light from oil lamps make the colors and movements of dancers very interesting.
Edges of painting are painted. The painting is ready to hang.
