Artist's description:

Sunflowers are grown for oil production, birdseed and confectionary. Dominant production areas in Queensland are the Central Highlands and Darling Downs, although there are significant crops in many other areas of central, western and southern Queensland. Recently I travelled through the Darling Downs and bought a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers. I painted from this brillant display of golden lustred flowers with deep burgundy (red + purple) flower head. Enoy!
