I painted “Flower Study #3” in 2016. The size of this flower painting is 20 inches by 16 inches by .75 inches, and the medium is acrylic on canvas. It is abstract and impressionistic in style, depicting colorful flowers in a vase.
I created this piece using an alla prima painting technique. Alla prima is an Italian phrase, meaning at first attempt. It is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint. This technique requires a fast way of working, because the work has to be finished before the first layers have dried. It may also be referred to as 'direct painting' or 'wet-on-wet'.
The painting is signed on the front, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity.
**Please note: Although this painting is available for sale, it won’t be dry enough for shipping until June 26rd, 2016.**
