Artwork description:

Hand printed and hand colored linocut made with oil based ink on Strathmore 500 paper. Colored in with watercolors. This is the first print in a series called The Surreal Year. I made this print as a sort of paean to the flowers in my garden which grow so beautifully due to the awesome Palouse soil! Also, this series is a depiction of life going a little haywire. The woman in the print is solid and rooted; the flowers are enormous and starting to grow over her...a bit ominous but still beautiful!

Materials used:

linoleum, oil-based ink, Strathmore 500 paper, watercolor
