During the winter of 2013/14 Somerset experienced some serious and devastating floods. Miles of low-lying land was submerged and many hundreds of properties damaged. The floods also provided some unsettling, dark scenes of natural beauty, and a disturbing view of once green farmland, now bright with a reflection of the sky. In this painting I recreate the view from an aircraft during a rare break in the cloud. Many light layers of wash and occasional dry brush were used in this tranquil scene, now on version 12, the second version having been exhibited and sold at the 2014 Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
All paintings are wrapped and packed in robust card and posted
within one working day in the UK, slightly longer internationally.
