The Ponte Vecchio in Florence is one of the most recognizable bridges in the world. Florence has a special presence unlike any other place in Italy. This painting is the largest of a series of painting of this famous bridge. It used to be filled with butcher shops until one of the big shots walked through there and had no appreciation for the sights and smells. He cleared them out of there and moved in jewelers and goldsmiths.
