Artist's description:

Fire is a huge element of my work as an agent of creation, such as making metal molten for casting, welding, etc., and also, for it's visual, symbolic representation. I made my first "fire" collecting broken bits of painted wood off the gallery floor while setting up a site specific installation in Soho a few years back. I broke some of the pieces with my hands, for an exaggerated jagged edge, giving the fire pieces movement. Scraps of barn jousts, and other select pieces create a base for the fire to grow off of. No two fires are exactly alike. These pieces can stand on their own as a sculpture, or they can be clustered together for a bigger presence. The pieces are rough in their execution, however, the pieces are carefully matched, making them refined in their composition.
