After a long winter, the colors of Spring are such a joy!

I actually love winter - the achromatic palette and the quiet slower days. Spring though brings a quickening of life and an explosion of color that just wakes me up!

I painted a series of flower paintings this Spring. My husband usually likes my more traditional oil paintings (although he tries to say something nice about every painting!) but this flower painting is his favorite of the series because of its graphic quality. The flowers are fairly bursting out of the picture plane. You can't look at this painting and not smile!

This is acrylic painted on a fully gessoed panel.
