About the third time I'd snipped the rose stems and moved the blossoms to a smaller vase, until, the smallest, this little Japanese tea caddy. The one at the base just wasn't going to make it, and yet it looked so beautiful in its scattered disintegration, I couldn't help but want to paint it. Oil on stretched linen, image size is 12x12. This is framed in a gold (wood) plein air frame (simple) that is 1 inch wide (2.54 cm) on each side bringing the overall framed dimensions to 14x14. The frame is black on the side but the facade has an ornate gold trim (see photos). Clear-coated with artist-grade varnish to protect against abrasion and dust, this work is signed and dated in verso, and ships with a digitally-registered Certificate of Authenticity.
