Original artwork description:

While experimenting with new ways to introduce a deep contrast in my paintings, I have discovered the wonder that is string. This technique first appeared in "Blind Justice". In this piece I have chosen to make my own representation of the poplar children's novel, The Little Red Riding Hood. There is something about children and there innocence that seems to inspire me, wether is be in a visual sense or conceptual sense. They seem ever so innocent and not molded yet to the ways of the word. This is the concept behind the dark burgundy and purple color in this piece. Red is implied in the characters novel, I personally chose it to be the representation of her innocence. As time passes and she grows up she will be influenced by the darkness (black) around her from different experiences. These experiences may also make us sad (blue) and blend with our innocence , giving the color purple. I strongly believe that it is not our environment that shapes us, but rather how we react to these situations and how we take hold. For our teenage Red Riding Hood, only time will tell where where colors will go.

Materials used:

Grumbacher Oil Paint, Canvas, Purple String
