There are many isolated farms like this one in the Cambridgeshire fens. Farm houses hiding behind poplar or evergreen trees acting as wind breakers. I have passed this farm many times on the way to visit my father's house and have watched the trees grow taller and taller over the years.
Christopher Witchall's landscape paintings capture the enormous open spaces and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire fens, where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years.
His unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
Acrylic painting on deep edge canvas. No need for framing.
