I visited the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens in Woodland, Washington in April, intending to paint the lilacs. Instead I painted this scene - a statue of a garden fairy blowing water from a shell. I was entranced by the sparkling light falling from above and through the lilac bushes, and by the contrast of cool gray and warm tones.
