Oil on quality canvas.
This piece is quite personal and deals with the pros and cons of alcohol.
For me, alcohol tends to spur creativity and imagination, but when one is always inebriated or hungover they don't have the time or spirit to act on these creative thoughts.
This painting exhibits such; the subject 'climbs the ladder' to enlightenment but never quite makes it to the top, their path is painted in red back to the bottom once again.
The artwork is layered with Gamblin Gamvar varnish that allows the painting to 'breathe' while it dries. The varnish can be safely removed later in time if a permanent varnish is wanted.
