The Spanish explorer Alonso de Ojeda, landing on the waters of the Lake of Maracaibo, in the Sinamaica Lagoon area, 24 August 1499, he noticed that the population lived in the stilt houses. And with a wave of exuberance and nostalgia for the city he was in love, he named Venezuela (Little Venice), seeing this kind of architecture "güajira"
