Original artwork description:

Along the Rio grande is the small town of Embudo. The name "Embudo", meaning "funnel" in Spanish, was given to the area by early Spanish settlers because the spot where the Rio Embudo flowed between two distinctive cone shaped hills reminded them of a funnel.

Another in a series of small watercolor paintings using quick strokes with a writing brush on rough watercolor paper. 16" x 12" image size with 16" x 20" mat, ready to frame.
Open skies, storms coming in, sweeping vistas, mountains and grasslands all call for broad strokes and bold light and shadows. I strive for an economy of color

Materials used:

watercolor on arches paper
