One of the things I love about working with encaustic medium is the broad range of interesting effects which can be achieved: layering and translucency, embedding materials, etc.
I this work I tried to suggest the complexity which lies just beneath the surface of simplicity: a simple blue stripe seems to be in the process of being torn apart by galactic gravitational forces, while the embedded thread seems to be sticking out its fingers in a helpless, infantile gesture.
