Last Spring I went on a pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, walking 100 km to Santiago de Compostela and the tomb of St James. It was an amazing experience to walk this historic journey that has been a path for thousands of travelers for hundreds of years. There were many moments of great beauty and inspiration. We crossed this brook, running under an ancient stone bridge on the way, and cooled our feet in the icy water.
I had my sketch book, water colors and camera, to "take notes," and finished this painting when I got home to my studio.
The colors of Northern Spain in the early spring were so exciting to my eye after a long, monochromatic winter in New York state.
All my paintings come ready to hang in a plain untreated white pine frame.
